Porthcawl
Animal Welfare Society (or P.A.W.S. for short) was set up 25 years
ago with one purpose in mind:to help make the lives of animals
in our area that little bit better. Since its inception, the Society
has grown from strength to strength, with links to such prestigious
organisations as Blue Cross, BAVO and The Dog Trust U.K. Thanks
to organisations like these, together with sponsorships and donations
from the business sector - and, of course, the hard work of P.A.WS.
Members themselves, we now have facilities for microchipping,
short and long stay kennelling, pet vaccination, neutering/spaying,
dogwalking and even rehoming animals when the need arises.
In
addition to its rehoming work, PAWS also traps and neuters feral
cats prior to release into managed colonies – in 2003, more
than 30 such cats were helped in addition to more than 100 dogs
and 90 cats that were taken in and rehomed.
